Agrocybe molesta is a decomposer that is commonly found in grassy areas and lawns in the spring and fall. It is strikingly white when young and later becomes yellow with age. The cap is a fleshy consistency and cracks distinctly from sun exposure. There is an annulus towards the apex of the stem which rips to deposits velar tissue on the cap margin appearing like a "beard".
